Birthday Mini Album

Hello

Today I want to share with you a very quick and easy project I put together for a birthday present on the weekend.

We were invited to a 2nd birthday party and the invitation said 'Please no presents'. But it hardly feels right turning up empty handed to a kids birthday party. So at about 8pm the night before I decided a mini album could be good, so the parents could put in some favourite pics from the day and perhaps pass on the album once little Mr 2 is old enough to appreciate it.

And let me tell you, it is a good thing this was a quick and easy project to do since my own little miss 3 months decided sleeping was unneccessary that night so I got about an hour and a half to work on the album and that was actually all I needed. Phew!

I kept it pretty simple due to my time restraints. The album is a Kaisercraft wood album, so pretty much you can just use the pages/wood pieces as templates to cut out your patterned paper, stick it on and embellish as you please. In this case, my embellishments were a combination of Scraplets (of course), American crafts thickers and some collectables die cuts from Kaisercraft. The collection is the Kaisercraft Save the date range, which is designed for parties.

Thanks for looking.
Holly :)

A2Z Scraplets November Releases Pt 2

Hey there

Still no clue what to do with blogger and my issue of having no room left in my picasa web albums. I don't want to upgrade and pay for an account. Would love to know what everyone else does for uploading their photos? I realise my file sizes are probably my biggest problem as I don't usually reduce the size and am now stuck with this issue since I dont plan to go back and re-load all the photos into my old blog posts at smaller file sizes lol. So all tips much welcome :)

So onto the next lot of shares:

Bright Sunshiney Day - How cute is that title?

Materials: Echo park pp; Crete paper pp; Kaisercraft Collectables; D-lish scraps doily & other embellishments; Kaisercraft rub on; A2Z Scraplets title; Kindy glitz; other - flowers.

Baby Boy
Materials: Kaisercraft PP, Mini pad & alpha stickers; A2Z Scraplets heart; adornit alphas; AC Thickers; D-lish scraps flowers.

Anyway, it is almost the weekend so I hope you all have something exciting planned. For me it will be a busy one. Tomorrow we have lots planned to do around the house. Hubby is going to mow and I want to get a few more things ticked off the to do list because at this rate, I am not going to get half of what I want done before our bundle arrives. But I did achieve a couple of to do list items today -  defrosted freezer and negotiated better rate on our home loan. It doesn't hurt to ask. The savings may not be huge but every little bit in our pocket instead of the banks is a bonus.

Hope you have a fantastic weekend planned... and hopefully some scrapping!

A2Z Scraplets November releases Pt 1

Hey there

I just realised I have yet to share my November DT layouts for A2Z Scraplets, other than over at the A2Z blog. Oops!

So here are the first couple:
"28"
This one I am entering into the current Authentique sketch challeng on their blog. Don't you just love their papers. I do!
Materials: A2Z Scraplets zipper; Authentique Unique paper, Authentique Uncommon 6 x 6 pad; Bo Bunny paper; AC Thickers.

 "Footprints on my heart"
Materials: A2Z Scraplets title; Echo park, Glitz designs papers; D-lish scraps embellishments; Kaiser brads & paperclip.

This layout was a pretty difficult but important one to create. As you may have seen on earlier posts, our little Squeak kitten was diagnosed as having a heart murmur when we went to get him desexed. We were devastated that he could have a shorter life span because of it. So I wanted a place to include lots of extra journalling and photos. Therefore I decided to create a mini album into my layout. Unfortunately I have run out of room on my google account for photos so there are a couple more pages that you may need to pop over to my recent post at A2Z scraplets blog to see more.

However, the good news. Yesterday we took Squeak to the cardiologist vet for his specialist appointment. Extremely expensive but we wanted to know what we were up against. The good news was not expected by us or the vet. Turns out it isn't a heart murmur but in fact a small ventricular hole... hole on the heart. It is so small that it is unlikely to affect his life span providing it does not increase in size. The vet was great explaining everything and said he'll need a 6 month re-review with ultra sound etc to make sure nothing has changed then yearly from there but that means we should get at least a year or two warning when things are starting to go bad and can look at medication from there to manage potential fluid on the lungs. So overall... looks like our baby should be with us a long time still! Could not be happier.

And the vet was most impressed with how chilled our little guy is. He said it was like working with a dog because he just laid down and let the vet do as he needed with the ultrasound. That's our boy! hehe He's quite the sweetie. Not like his much rowdy big brother who is a total bad influence haha

Anyway I shall share more of my November layouts from A2Z once I figure out the technology to allow me to share more pics lol

Have a great weekend

A2Z October Releases Part 1

Hello

How are you all on this lovely weekend? It's extremely hot where I am in QLD. About 36 or so degrees so very summery already. And being 33 weeks pregnant, its not a great thing to be that hot even though I do love hot weather.

This morning a friend and I headed in to the Quilting and Scrapbooking expo in Brissie. There was not a great deal of scrap related items so amazingly I did not spend a lot. Mostly card marking supplies really since Christmas is nearing and a few other odds and ends.

Recently the latest A2Z Scraplets releases went up on the blog with some amazing inspiration from the DT. Here are my own October projects in case you missed the post:

Family Stories - This one is part of the 'Me' scrapbook project I recently decided to start and features my parents. There is hidden journally inside the envelope that tells a bit about my parents story.

Materials: A2Z Scraplets heart border; Bo Bunny Timepiece collection; D-lish scraps flower & envelope.

Beware - It's a Baby Boom
The story behind this one is that my sister and I were both pregnant at the same time. Big age gap between us. She is up to number 8 compared to my number one but we got the chance to get a couple of joint belly photos recently. Lucky too because her bub arrived this morning. A little boy. Unfortunately it was not a smooth labour as he had the cord wrapped around his neck but we are hoping all is okay and just waiting for a time to visit once my sis is rested. She was due Friday so we are only 6 weeks apart in due dates although with my first I will more likely have my bubs late but its nice they will have a cousin close in age.
Materials: Echo park paper; D-lish scraps embellishments & twine; Purple pumpkin button; AC thickers; Jillybean soup alphas; dymo labeller; pink paint.
Pretty hard to read my dymo journalling but its - I never expected the day would come with Tanya and I pregnant at the same time, me expecting my first and her with no. 8 due only 6 weeks apart. At the time of the photo we were 28 and 34 weeks.
The A2Z title was embossed with a spot folder in the cuttlebug and painted pink.

So Happy Together
Materials: A2Z Scraplets title; echo park paper; d-lish scraps flowers and doily; tim holtz distress ink.

The journalling is about the fact that we were at a friend's wedding and this was the first couple photo of Simon and I with my bump on display so its special.

Anyway, that's enough shares for now. I'll share the other 3 October projects in another post so as not to overload you. Also just got an update from mum. My new nephew is feeding now so that's a great sign after his scary birth experience. All is looking well.

A2Z Scraplets August Inspiration

Hey there everyone,

Have you been over to the A2Z Scraplets blog since yesterday? Julie has been busy uploading all the new inspiration from the design theam with the new releases. So much goodness to be seen. Be sure to pop over for a visit!

As always, I had lots of fun creating with my scraplets for this release and here are some of the end results:

I love you this much
Materials: paper - echo park, kraft; embellishments - d'lish scraps, echo park, A2Z scraplets; other - glimmer mist

I Adore you
Materials: Paper - echo park, black cardstock; Embellishments- D'lish scraps, echo park, A2Z Scraplets, dymo labeller.

Too much energy
Materials: White cardstock; embellishments - echo park; d-lish scraps; A2Z Scraplets chipboard; Other - flowers, kindy glitz, glimmer mist.

I had a bit of fun with this title, by spraying it with green glimmer mist, then inking in places with some Tim Holtz distress ink to give it an almost camo look, then edging with some kindy glitz for some sparkle.

Hope you have enjoyed the first of my A2Z shares for August. I'll post the rest soon :)
