Hey there

It's been a while since I've shared anything even though I have been pretty busy creating so I thought I'd do a quick share tonight. I had a few extra prints of this one photo for some reason. It is a fave but no idea how I ended up printing it so many times so I decided to scrap them, with a bit of inspiration from the current Annas Craft Cupboard sketch turned on its side.

Football Star

 sHello everyone,
Hope you are all having a wonderful weekend. Mine has been a nice mix of celebrations and scrapping time.

This next layout features my adorable nephew Connor who lives in Melbourne, so I don't get to see him grow up so much. He's 5 now and this was taken when he was 1. Unfortunately it was one of those layouts that really did not photograph well. Bad lighting or something. It looks way better in real life.

Materials include: Pattern paper Echo park & Fancy pants; American crafts thickers, Kaisercraft Nan's favourites paper pad and mini alphas.

Some Velvet Ensemble

Hello everyone,
Firstly I want to say thankyou to all the lovely people who visit and leave sweet comments. I really appreciate it and it is such a great feeling to share with so many talented and inspirational people.

I recently got the lovely Velvet Ensemble collection by Kaisercraft and had a chance to create with it last night. I was inspired by one of the June challenges on the Kaiser blog. Here is the sketch:

Mostly I was inspired by the die cut shape but have been wanting to try the frill border thing for months after seeing a layout in a magazine on a round die cut cardstock. So this was a great opportunity and I must say, I am so in love with this layout. It could be one of my all time favourites. It features my bridal party and the quote is a Kaiser rub on relating to smiles, as it was one of the few photos of all 6 of them where they were all pretty much smiling. No one with their eyes shut or pulling a stupid face LOL

 Sorry my photo is a little lopsided! Ooops! I am a shocker at photographing layouts lol

So I have actually created a lot of things in the past couple of weeks, but as you may have noticed my blog has been a bit sparse on updates. That is due to the fact that most of them are DT creations so hopefully I will get to post them up for you all soon. Some won't be until next month though but I am loving them so can't wait to share. Otherwise I am busy trying to create a mini scrapbook for my boss who finishes this week. Oh and I may have some exciting work related promotion news to share soon. Will keep you posted.

Big Brother Hugs

Hi there to all the lovely people in blog land,

A quick share that I finished off yesterday, which is a layout of my niece and nephew. I can't remember when the photo was taken, but the kids are always happy to hug their younger siblings. Its such a precious picture.

I created this layout based on the current sketch on Stuck on You sketches. Great inspiration sketch for this photo I had sitting on my desk ready to be scrapped.


I've managed to play along with both their May sketches, so that's good considering I haven't gotten a lot of challenges done lately. Been a very busy month!

Busy weekend ahead with hubby's birthday party tomorrow. I'm exhausted from an afternoon of baking, cleaning and gardening. Almost organised now. Going to head to bed pretty soon.

Happy Together Layout

Hi all,
Another one created on National Scrapbooking Day. This one is using materials from my Scrapbooking Haven April DT kit. I actually found these papers really difficult to work with but I am quite happy with the way this layout turned out. I am generally a bit put off by such bold patterns and don't typically work in reds and oranges. I kept my other two layouts so far with these papers quite simple, which were posted up about a week ago, but this one I put a bit more detail into it and it turned out pretty well.

Its another wedding themed layout. Yep, still haven't gotten bored with them lol The title looks lopsided on the photo, but in real life it is straight. Not sure what happened there.

 Materials include Cosmo Cricket Chemistry collection: Flirt, forget me not, wink, fashions, journal cards and striptease patterned papers and die cuts.

A Layout for NSD

Hey all
At my family Easter get together, my hubby was having fun kicking the footy around with my niece and nephews. He's just a big kid at heart. So I got a few fun photos that I had to scrap. I especially love the piggy back photo with my gorgeous niece.

I don't create bright layouts too often, but it was a bit of fun. I think its one of those things you need to do with kids, but without kids of my own as yet, its only when I have great pics of my nieces and nephews that I get the opportunity.

Materials: American Crafts: Hello Sunshine Dandy paper, October Afternoon: Farm fresh farmyard paper, Basic grey: Origins refresh paper, Echo park sticker, Kaisercraft bubblegum hills chipboard & patterned paper, Kaisercraft Lush patterned paper, Bella chips.

I had a bit of a shopping spree again today... back to the Kaisercraft outlet for a mass of OTP and other goodies. They had a lot of May specials on so I got quite a few freebies, which is always good. Also got a few more items for hubby's 30th and a cruise ship OTP album for mum as an extra mother's day gift since they just got back from a cruise. She has never done a mini album so it'll be a fun thing to create with her.

The Boys - Colour Inspired Challenge Layout

Hi Everyone,
Well this layout has been a few days in the making as I simly have not had time to scrapbook. We had my niece's 18th birthday party last night and unfortunately my husband spent the entire night on a bed due to coming down with a very sudden stomach bug. He's not much better today which is awful because we have his brother's 21st tonight but it doesn't look like he'll be up for it. He must be feeling so disappointed :-(

This layout I have created has a double inspiration. I decided to give the Scrapbooking Haven Valentine Colour Challenge a go, as they were colours I did not really imagine mixing myself. However I still needed a bit of extra inspiration on how to work the colours, so I worked from the Sketchabilities sketch #41, which is a great sketch. What I love is that the colours are kind of romantic colours with pinks and reds, but its still a masculine layout of my husband and his groomsmen goofing around on our wedding day. These pics are great as they look like they are having fun rather than acting up for the camera.

Its a very simple layout, with a lot of empty space. That's something I tend to struggle with so while I do not embellish a lot on many of my layouts, I tend to avoid large blank areas. It seems to work with this one, so hopefully you will agree.

Here's a picture of the birthday girl and her gigantic cake. She is not one to pose for photos so its a rare occassion that there is an intentional smile into the camera. Perhaps alcohol helped.... LOL

Something Old, Something New

It has been a busy weekend, with me pretty much shut up indoors (far too hot outside during a Queensland summer anyway). My main focus has been on a couple of challenges I decided to play a long with. I find the challenges give me good inspiration when I'm not really sure what I want to create. This one is Sketchabilities #40.

I had a bit of an idea on show casing my preparations for my wedding day, so the two layouts I've done this weekend sort of go together, but are not really match.

For this one I hand cut out a background shape, similar to that in the original sketch. Its hard to see, but its done using a pale green patterned paper, then with a distressed border in pink. I have also included a distressed border around the main photo in the same pink. The background paper has a script pattern, which is subtle so as not to distract from the photos. Its hard to see but there is also a tag sticking out under the main photo. I have done my journalling on the back of the tag, which references my something old, new, borrowed, blue... as there are not photos of each of the items so that way I have the memory of what items I did choose. The tag slides in and out. I have also folded down the top left corner of the layout and backed it with a piece of pink cardstock, which has been embossed using my new Cuttlebug in a similar script pattern as the paper.

I never use pink but was trying for a real feminine style with these two layouts, with a bit of blue and green thrown in to keep it soft but more interesting.
