A2Z October Releases Part 1

Hello

How are you all on this lovely weekend? It's extremely hot where I am in QLD. About 36 or so degrees so very summery already. And being 33 weeks pregnant, its not a great thing to be that hot even though I do love hot weather.

This morning a friend and I headed in to the Quilting and Scrapbooking expo in Brissie. There was not a great deal of scrap related items so amazingly I did not spend a lot. Mostly card marking supplies really since Christmas is nearing and a few other odds and ends.

Recently the latest A2Z Scraplets releases went up on the blog with some amazing inspiration from the DT. Here are my own October projects in case you missed the post:

Family Stories - This one is part of the 'Me' scrapbook project I recently decided to start and features my parents. There is hidden journally inside the envelope that tells a bit about my parents story.

Materials: A2Z Scraplets heart border; Bo Bunny Timepiece collection; D-lish scraps flower & envelope.

Beware - It's a Baby Boom
The story behind this one is that my sister and I were both pregnant at the same time. Big age gap between us. She is up to number 8 compared to my number one but we got the chance to get a couple of joint belly photos recently. Lucky too because her bub arrived this morning. A little boy. Unfortunately it was not a smooth labour as he had the cord wrapped around his neck but we are hoping all is okay and just waiting for a time to visit once my sis is rested. She was due Friday so we are only 6 weeks apart in due dates although with my first I will more likely have my bubs late but its nice they will have a cousin close in age.
Materials: Echo park paper; D-lish scraps embellishments & twine; Purple pumpkin button; AC thickers; Jillybean soup alphas; dymo labeller; pink paint.
Pretty hard to read my dymo journalling but its - I never expected the day would come with Tanya and I pregnant at the same time, me expecting my first and her with no. 8 due only 6 weeks apart. At the time of the photo we were 28 and 34 weeks.
The A2Z title was embossed with a spot folder in the cuttlebug and painted pink.

So Happy Together
Materials: A2Z Scraplets title; echo park paper; d-lish scraps flowers and doily; tim holtz distress ink.

The journalling is about the fact that we were at a friend's wedding and this was the first couple photo of Simon and I with my bump on display so its special.

Anyway, that's enough shares for now. I'll share the other 3 October projects in another post so as not to overload you. Also just got an update from mum. My new nephew is feeding now so that's a great sign after his scary birth experience. All is looking well.

Some More Retreat Shares

Hi all

How is your weekend going? Mine has been fairly relaxing, with a friend's birthday party (and engagement announcement) yesterday and a quiet day at home today. Well, as quiet as can be with some cleaning thrown in. Now I'm keen to do some scrapping.

I got my heat tool and a heap of embossing powders that I ordered online this week so I'm keen to get into this new technique. I have a great A2Z Scraplets item that is going to be my first heat embossed project. I do hope it turns out okay as it will be a DT share soon if all goes to plan :)

Here are a couple of more layouts from the retreat. Both are featuring gorgeous D-lish scraps embellishments. Unfortunately my time on the D-lish team has come to an end. It has been a wonderful opportunity and one of the easiest and most fun DTs ever. Be sure to check out their gorgeous range!

This first layout is using the current Bird is the Word challenge word - SMILE
Wow, just realised I am linking up with barely 10 minutes to spare before the challenge ends LOL Talk about cutting it fine!

This second one is a simple layout featuring our new kitten Squeak. He's so cute! Both layouts are using gorgeous Glitz Designs papers. They are  becoming one of my favourite paper manufacturers I think. So pretty!

Enjoy what is left of the weekend everyone. BTW, I have some big news to share soon. Stay tuned...

First Retreat Shares

Hi all

I finally had an opportunity to photograph my layouts from the Wicked Princess retreat on the weekend. It was a quick before work photo session so some of them I need to do again lol But at least I am a bit more organised.

This layout was inspired by one of the Kaiser sketches from May, sketch #2 using the pretty Madame Boutique collection from Kaiser. This has to be one of my favourite Kaiser collections. It also features some Twidleybitz chipboard, a Manor House flower and some D-lish scraps blooms. Rather than frame the picture with a border, I cut out a section of the paper and distressed and curled it back to reveal the photo and paper underneath.

This layout was actually one of the few a bit closer to my usual scrapping style. I found I was doing a lot of clean and simple on the weekend which is something I am usually intimidated by lol It was fun though!

This next layout was inspired by the May Saturday sketch #4 on the Kaiser blog.

This is one of the ones that did not photograph so well however I'm running out of May so uploading it while there is still time for the challenge lol Love this cute photo of my niece Liarna. She had the most hypo face. It was the day of her day care graduation so she was full of excitement in her pretty new dress!

Plenty more retreat shares will be coming soon. Stay tuned :)

May Sketch - A2Z Scraplets

Hi all,

New month, new challenges... here is a great one to get your creativity flowing. This month it was my turn to set the sketch at A2Z Scraplets so here it is:
And my challenge creation... photos from a photography lesson dad and I did earlier this year. It was a great day to spend with my dad as we don't really get the chance to hang out, just the two of us much so it was fun. Hopefully we learnt something. My photography doesn't seem much better... but I do like these photos of Dad from the day.

And some other recent creations using some lovely D-lish scraps:

Have a great week everyone

From Screen Scrap to Entry

Hi all,

I actually had the opportunity to scrap a layout for a challenge on the weekend. It's been a while. This one is for the current Ever After movie inspiration at From Screen to Scrap. It features some lovely D-lish scraps embellishments and the gorgeous Kaiser Bonjour collection, teamed with some prima flowers.

The challenge requires journalling about your love story, bling (the pearl pin), and a fairytale themed title.

Thanks for looking :)

Catch up Post

Hey there
Its been ages since I've had anything to share as I have been going through various extremes of illness and stress at the moment. My immune system is not so great at the moment, plus with my extra work load at work, I have come home every day ready for bed lol

However here are some belated layouts to share:

As always there are 2 challenges at Scrapbook kits this month:

The sketch:
Materials: My minds eye paper; kaisercraft mini pad; d-lish scraps flowers, doily, journal note; AC thickers.

Photography Class and Layouts to Share

Hey there,

Been forever since I blogged. Unfortunately its been a pretty stressful time for me and continues to be that way at the moment. I am hoping for a positive outcome to my situation, but am unsure at this stage. However, I did have a bit of fun today doing a photography course with my dad.

We both have SLR cameras and are a bit new to the whole process so I got a cheap lesson for each of us for him as a christmas present. I knew he wouldn't go alone so I got to benefit too lol It was only a 3 hour beginner course and the main focus was on portrature using Apeture. We had to take photos of people in our small groups so some of my photos are of complete strangers lol But Here are a couple of my dad... but he really hates photos so the funny faces say it all!

The landscapes did not look quite as hoped. This one isn't so bad but I wasn't too impressed with most of the landscape ones I took so I'm not sure what I was doing wrong as I had the settings I was told to use lol
Bad time of day for good photos maybe. It was about 12:30.
Here is one of me that dad took with his camera.
And now some new layout shares using the lovely D-lish products
Materials: Kaiser papers & die cuts; Wow chipboard; twidleybitz chipboard; vintage lace; d-lish scraps flowers, doily, pin, bottle cap, pearl dots.

Materials: D-lish scraps doily, bottlecap, journal spot, washi tape, bingo card; safarass lass alphas

Have a great week everyone xo
