Masters Entries 2013

It seems I have forgotten to share last years Scrapbooking Memories masters entries on my blog. I was going through some layouts today to put them into albums (as it's long over due) and I found them still packaged from when they were returned.

I was lucky enough to have my OTP project published in the masters issue as an honourable mention, which is always a pretty awesome feeling. However I am pretty happy with my 3 layouts that didn't quite get there. Here they are:

Materials: AC Cardstock; Kaisercraft collectables; Tim Holtz distress ink; Dymo labeller; AC Thickers; Other - stencil

Materials: Kaisercraft paper, collectables, pearl flourish; kraft cardstock; Manor House creations flowers; Dymo labeller; AC Thickers; other - texture paste, washi tape.

Materials: Manor House Creations flowers; Scrapmatts chipboard; AC Thickers; Other - paint, onion bag, double sided tape centre.

It must be getting close to masters for 2014. I am undecided if I will apply this year. It's fun for a challenge I suppose, trying to think creatively with the criteria. I like a good challenge.

Kaisercraft Design Team 2014 Entry

Hello

I decided to apply for the 2014-15 design team, as it is no secret I have always loved Kaisercraft products. Here are a couple of projects I have created for the call:

This pair of cards uses supplies mostly from the Kaisercraft Snap mini paper pad and some Kaleidoscope collectables, along with Scrapmatts chipboard, D-lish scraps embellishments, and Tim Holtz distress ink.

This layout is a double created with a traditional scrapbooking page, combined with a pocket scrapbooking plastic sleeve. I actually didn't have a plastic sleeve design to suit the idea I had in mind so I sewed together two 6x12 sleeves and stitched up pockets as I wanted. Not perfect, but pretty easy to create your own design. The traditional style page is on the left and the pocket page on the right.

Created using Kaleidoscope papers and collectables, with Scrapmatts chipboard & a Piece of Cake Designs flair.

And a mini album. This one was a good effort. It took me about 2 hours from start to finish, so I am pretty impressed with that. I decided to make a mini album of mine and my husband's relationship as a gift for our upcoming anniversary. Love, engagement, marriage and baby. Our story so far!

Created using a Kaisercraft tag wood album and the mini pad and collectables from the Limelight collection. Other materials were Scrapmatts chipboard, lace, flowers, dymo labeller, AC Thickers.

Here are a couple of the pages up close:

Ok now Kaisercraft... pick me... pretty please ;)

Thanks for visiting!

May Scrapmatts

This month I have a few different projects to share with you for Scrapmatts, as always. Last weekend we had international Scrapbooking Day so I managed to get a little creating done the night before mostly. And that even meant a double layout!

I seem to be scrapbooking less and doing a bit more card making lately, which is a good stash buster. A good habit (maybe) that I've gotten into over the past couple of years is putting all my paper scraps into a box so I can use them up for layouts and cards. I've been meaning to pull out the box and just do a mass card making session although with the amount of scraps in this box, I may need a whole month!

Do you have a similar process?

Also, for all the mothers that happen to be reading this post, I hope you have a wonderful Mother's Day. I still haven't made mother's day cards so I will have to share them another day!

Time Flies

A week ago today my daughter was 15 months. She is every bit an active toddler now and no longer has that little baby look. It feels like this past year has just vanished and she is growing too fast!

This time of year is just crazy for birthdays in our family. In February was mine and my niece also turned 21. Then rolls around March and one of my nephews turned 13 along with 3 other family birthdays. Busy busy busy!

So lots of quick cards thrown together over the past couple of weeks and Scrapmatts are just perfect for making very quick cards... as in under 10 minute style cards ;)

Have a great week

Double Layout - Family Holiday

The Kaisercraft blog Saturday sketches are back and after a trip to Spotlight yesterday for fabric, I did happen to come home with the Getaway edition of the Kaiser Captured Memories project life style cards. And this actually inspired me to want to do a scrapbook layout instead of PL.

So I decided to join in with the January sketch:
It was a bit of a last minute decision and I ran out of sunlight before I had time to photograph so please mind the not so great photographs.

I actually decided to turn this into a double page layout since I had lots of photos to include from our recent holiday. And thanks to the film strip element, it was the perfect time to use one of the Scrapmatts film strip chipboards. I added little photos in behind it. Love the way it turned out.

I used quite a mixed bag of Kaiser collections. Captured moments-Getaway, Velvet Ensemble, Timeless classics 12x12 pad, Picked pear Then a few bits of Scrapmatts and some Thickers for the title.

I actually found this double a little challenging lol It took me 2 sittings to complete as I got frustrated at it last night but am happy with the end result now.

Thanks for popping by

Scrapmatts January

Hello

I am excited to be hanging about on the Scrapmatts team for another year. This team is such a fun one to be a part of and it helps keep my chipboard love satisfied ;)

With our January DT challenge to create a layout featuring ourselves, I figured it was the perfect time to do a reflective 2013 layout... which does feature me, as per our strict guideline lol Although being the one behind the camera most of the time, most of my photos are selfies. This one was a rare one taken by my hubby... at my request, with my little miss exhausted after some Boxing Day socialising.

My 2013 was amazing. I loved every part of it and cannot even think of a negative. Motherhood sure is something!

Isn't it fascinating how our style seems to change over time. I was thinking as I did these pages how my pages have become far more minimalistic than they were in the past. I still do the occasional heavily embellished page, but these days I tend to keep things simple and no longer have flowers on everything lol This style is easier to put in albums too ;)

We had a big milestone in December. Our little Lily turned 1. Cannot believe how quick that went. However a few days before her birthday I had a little fun doing this home smash cake photo shoot. I am by no means a photographer but I'm pretty happy with some of the happy snaps I got on the day and she seemed to have fun.

When it comes to altering chipboard, because I so often scrapbook with Lily nearby, I can be limited on my methods so washi tape is such a perfect and quick solution to altering chipboard. I love the way the little banner turned out with a few strips of washi.

Never too old for a Santa photo

Hello lovely people,

Can you believe Christmas is 2 weeks away? Well... less than 2 weeks by the time this post is live. Eeek! I still have so much left to do. But at least we got the annual Christmas photo out of the way. By annual I mean our 2nd since my daughter was only 2 weeks old in her last one. This year she is not keen on Mr Claus so mummy had to join in on the Santa photo. At least he was a skinny santa and there was room in the chair so I didn't have to sit on his knee hahaha

I used the photo in my Scrapmatts layout for the month :)

Thanks for popping over :)

Scrapmatts November

Hey there everyone,

Can you believe how fast Christmas is sneaking up. It's a little crazy really. This year seems to be on fast forward. Hopefully knowing Christmas is so close you have already started your Christmas shopping and planning. I am about half way through mine so it's a good step in the right direction... especially since I have 10 niece and nephews. Eek! And all will be at my house for Christmas day.

While it does not suit everyone, a handmade gift can mean the world to some. The Scrapmatts memory cabinets are perfect for personalising as a handmade gift.

I left the wood raw but inked the edges to give it a bit more definition with an aged distressed ink look. Otherwise some simple embellishing with patterned paper, heat embossed scrapmatts and some flowers.

And a simple Christmas decoration made from the Christmas bauble scrapmatts and words.

Thanks for popping by

Scrapmatts September DT creations

Hello everyone,

One of this months DT challenges at Scrapmatts was something bright and colourful... perfect! I would once have cringed at the thought of doing something like that as I used to prefer darker/neutral colours and a shabby chic style but how things have changed. These days colourful is my favourite way to scrapbook :)

Materials: Echo park papers; Jillibean soup polaroid; Dymo labeller, Scrapmatts chipboard; FF dots; mini stapler; WRMK Stitcher; twine.

And some Christmas ATC. I can admit even now I don't really understand the purpose of an ATC but I created some anyway lol Not sure if I got it right but at least there are lots of cute little scrapmatts just perfect for these little ATC chipboards.
