WOYWW #91 - A Combination of Good and Bad Experiences This Week

Hi everyone,
What a week it has been. Not all together a nice one either. On Monday night, a bit before 3am, I woke to some noises outside our bedroom window. I am a light sleeper so was quite startled. The noises got louder and so I realised I had to have a peep out the curtain. I already knew what I was going to see but that never makes it any less scary. I opened the curtain only to startle a young man trying to break into our window, who bolted down the street. I woke my husband and we called the police and they came and looked around, taking descriptions and all that. Unfortunately what looked like a good print did not really lift too well when they came back to do the dusting so our intruder probably will not be caught on this occassion.

Its the most horrible thing, as I've always had a fear of one day looking out a window and finding someone looking back. But also that thought of someone entering the home when you're in there. I'm not sure how successful this person would have been through our locked window beyond the screen but the thought that he may have gotten into our house, our bedroom... where we were sleeping, is a very scary thought. Understandably we have been quite shaken up over the whole experience and I'm a bit paranoid walking around the house and hearing any noise now. Hopefully it all goes back to normal soon as we live in a really nice, quiet neighbourhood so its a shock it happened at all. But I do work in a prison, so I hear these stories every day. I can now relate to all those poor people who have experienced it first hand of what such individuals can do to turn your world upsidedown so quick!

However, I have since had a few bits of good news. I won two prizes this week. One was a random prize draw at From Scrap to Screen, so thank you Shazza and Debi. I also won Dale's blog candy so overall, those little bits of luck have cheered me up a lot. There is also some other good news that I will announce a bit later in the week.

So onto my work area. I have nothing current in progress to share unforunately but I did do a bit of a tidy up with my storage spaces, so I thought I'd share those. Below is my top drawer for my filing cabinent, right next to my computer. I now has my computer paper, photo paper and all my inks and paints. The drawer below it now has embellishments in it but no photo of that one as yet.

Below are some flowers I made after reading an online tutorial on Wicked Princesses. So easy to make but so cute. Will have to use them in a layout sometime soon.
Here is my new stamp storage solution. This was a tip I read from another WOYWW'er last week, to store stamps inside collector card sleeves. I found my old collector card collections from childhood and started putting my stamps in. It works great, with bigger stamps going in normal A4 plastic sleeves. The photos aren't great. Also, with Kaisercraft stamp packs, they tend to  have little sleeves with folder holes already, so those ones are at the front of the folder in their own individual sleeves.
Here is the bottom drawer of my filing cabinent. It has a lot of my cuttlebug supplies, including my sizzix and cuttlebug dies, embossing folders and a border punch. Pretty big collection since I've only had my cuttlebug for a month hehe
Looking forward to coming by and visiting your desks. If you want to see where it all started, head on over to Julia's for a background on WOYWW.

Happy Wednesday everyone!

Thanks for sharing and popping over too Holly and I have had exactly the same experience as I was walking itno my bedroom there was man (at 7pm at night) climbing in my window having removed the screen. He took off too. We had been broken into while away four months earlier and he was returning for second picking they did get good prints and knew who he was..we upgraded our security and praise God nothing since then! it is very disconcerting. The sad thin is when they took things the first item; the jewellery was not expensive and mean nothing to them but the world to my mother and self.
Congrats on wins thoguhttaht is really grand! and also love your oragnising,
God bless and watch over you always,

God how scarey for you; I'm really glad you scared him off and there was no confrontation.
Your die and folder collection is impressive...or obsessive....for a month old cuttlebug owner am not sure!

That is something I often imagine will happen - how terrible for you. I cannot begin to think of the shock you must have got.
We have had one or two hairy occasions - worse was when someone set fire to a stolen car right outside our garage and we were trapped inside the house with it exploding all over. What sum bags there are about!
Anyway, some nice things happened to you and I hope they have helped in some small way. Take care. #36

Sorry to hear about your almost intruder..I have had my apartment broken into (while I was out) and it was nerve-wracking as well.
I am loving my stamps this way...so much easier to find and get out. I am now looking for 3.5x 5 photo holders for the stamps that are too big for the baseball card holders and too small for the 4x6 ones. 88

So sorry to hear about your frightening experience. Hope you will soon have your extra security fitted, so that you can feel protected.

Brilliant storage for your stamps.

I can imagine how scared you must have been, unfortunately that is part of our every day reality here in South Africa. My family has been hi-jacked (car stolen at gun point) three times while coming home from work.
Love the stamp storage!
Happy WOYWW

Blimey Holly, no wonder you were shaken up. Not a pleasant experience at all.

Much nicer news to hear about winning some crafty goodies, hope you have lots of fun with those. Your embossing folder & die stash is pretty darn impressive :-)

Take care,

Glad I could brighten your week up a bit.
I like the idea about the clear stamps. Might have to initiate something similar.

How horrid that was for you. There are some lowlifes out there.

A friend was recently confronted and harrassed by a couple of tough, tough people. She had the presence of mind to call out really loudly to a ? friend. " ----- get the guns!"
Apparently the toughs disappeared at the speed of light.
How tidy is your scrap area! I store my clear stamps in a similar way

That has always been a fear of mine, looking out and having someone looking in at me - can imagine how un nerving it would be and hope that things are now returning to normal for you. Great wins and storage solutions too!
