Going Craft Shopping Tomorrow - What Should I Buy?

Hi everyone,
There is a sale on at our local mega craft type store here in Australia (Spotlight) and I was going to go on a bit of a shopping spree.

I've just started stamping and have 2 stamp pads and a couple of clear rubber stamps.

I also have a cuttlebug on the way with a few different embossing folders and dies.

So what other accessories are recommended for me to purchase tomorrow? Please give me lots of suggestions so I know what else is helpful for stamping and other paper crafts.

Thanks :-)

Mmm, Harmony, I guess you may be in bed now as only just coming into hop on here tonight.. my thoughts are dont worry about any of their embossing or cutting folders (they have their own embossing machine which one of my friends bought - not brilliant) and then she bought her bug cos it was not that great and you can buy heaps cheaper folders on eBay from US and UK and they are heaps nicer..
Re. pads for stamping they are a bit dear check prices online before going, although if on really good special they may be ok. Have bought some there, chalk pads were ok and you definitely need a white chalk one for using on dark colours (like I did on my WOYWW card last week) I have nearly worn mine out in less than a year. Stamp-wise they have some ok ones in cheap-ish sets unmounted which you use on acrylic blocks so they are good... acrylic blocks are cheaper at our Kmart here and mostly online did not buy from Spotlight. They do have lovely papers at good prices and ribbons and beads for accessories which I go over there for..Hope that helps and have fun! :D Shaz in oz. xx

Hey Shaz,
Thanks for your reply. I'm still up. I have no idea what to do with a chalk pad, but I'll try and find one and soon learn :-) I'm also glad to hear I'm not the only one who frequents Kmart. I buy a lot of scrap paper blocks from there and other bits and pieces.

I definitely appreiciate the suggestions and it gives me a bit of an idea what to look for. I am a VIP Spotlight member and have the current discount coupon of spend $100 and get $40 off. They do it a lot which is a great saving. And now I won't be bypassing the stamp section wondering what its all about.

Have a great weekend Shaz x

I would recommend a Versamark ink pad. It's clear, but really sticky so a great one to use with embossing powder. It can also be used for a tone-on-tone effect for stamping onto coloured card. White & clear embossing powders are good too, along with a heat tool for melting it.

Basic colours of card are always useful. Hero Arts stamps are about the best I have used, especially the Clings & wood block ones, although their clear stamps are good too.

The Cuttlebug Swiss Dots embossing folder is a handy one to have, I think because it's so simple.

The small dew drop inkpads are usually good value too.

Have fun shopping! (and be sure to show us what you buy!)

xx

Hi Ciara, thanks for your suggestions. I am back now but did get a few of those things. Its good to know for future shopping trips too so anything else anyone suggests is still definitely relevant.

I ended up getting a couple of packs of black and white card stock, because I seem to go through a lot of those. I also got a tear drop stack of Martha Stewart ink pads with 6 colours.

They didn't have any cuttlebug compatible items unfortunately so back to ebay and other online stores for those. But thanks heaps for your suggestions... embossing powder sounds daunting but that's probably on my list of future things to try :-)
