What's On To Your Workdesk Australia Day Wednesday

Happy Australia Day everyone. So its a holiday here and today my husband and I are spending our day off with our wedding photographer, having our wedding album design session. Its supposed to take about 6 hours so it will be fun... but a long day.

Otherwise, I'm off to Sydney on Friday until Sunday this week for what appears to be a boys weekend. My husband and 2 of his band members are keen to go watch an international band, the Deftones, down in Sydney so I'm along for the ride.

As you can see, Miss Felix never really wanders far from her desk. But it is getting messier with a bigger pile of stamps and stuff after my shopping spree last week.

So these are the two layouts I have been working on for a couple of days, also for my honeymoon album. They are incomplete, but I would love some advice from all you lovely ladies as I'm not really sure what to do to make them more interesting. I will most likely add another title below the large photo on the second layout, with our cruise dates. But otherwise, how can I embellish them to make them more interesting. I really do struggle with the 3D style layouts so any suggestions will be much appreciated.

Be sure to check out eveyone else's work desk's at Stamping-ground. Happy Wednesday!

Thank you so much for the blog award. I will pass it on a little later today. Dealing with our own messes today.- One seriously large mirror, absolutely broken into many many pieces. And where that glass has gone is everywhere!

Re your layout struggle - I always think about what the photo is saying to me. Sometimes amongst the image there may be a colour that says I am here. You are at the beach?
Fish, shells, towels. and on the first page I can see rope - twine, braids, a little texture of some kind? Love the sign too! Beware of .???? Maybe you could make some silly little embellishment signs.
I don't see any writing? I am sure there is a story.
Just some ideas.
Now back to my mess.

Julie, you're welcome for the award. Sounds like a stressful day for you. Hope the mirror is all cleaned up now. Thanks for the tips for my pages. I like the idea of twine... just not sure where to find some.

Shaz, thanks also for your suggestions. How much easier the options will be with my cuttlebug when it arrives. Then I can cut shapes to my hearts desire.

Hi Harmony Sweetpea, I don't scrapbook either, but like Shaz I would put some scrolls and flowers also make some little pockets to put little notes in or tags. Have fun in Sydney and Happy Australia Day. I will be going to Australia in August to see some relatives which I have never met. -Perth. Thanks for popping over JO.xx

Cute layouts! Are you at the beach? I went on a scrap booking cruise and we did a fun thing using a clear cellophane bag(12x12) and we put a couple tbls blue hair gel, blue and green glitter in it, smooshed it around and then smoothed it down taped it shut tight and taped it to the page putting sandy mudd glue at the top to mimic sand . Such a cute accent. Sounds weird but I will send you an pic if you send your email.

Happy Australia Day, Holly. I hope you enjoy your day with your photographer.
Your Layouts are looking good. I like to include some personal journalling about what the photos are about, anything funny or memorable that happened, if you don't want anyone else to read it you could hide it behind a flap or tuck it somewhere. Ribbons are good embellishments, several different colours and textures and I like making my own flowers too. The possibilities are endless.
Have fun and enjoy Sydney.

Hi all,
Thanks for the comments and tips. There are some very creative ideas so I am sure to come up with something good to embellish those pages too. Mostly the second one which is very incomplete that needs lots of work. The hammock page is okay. A little dull but doesn't need much.

Thankyou all again and enjoy the rest of your week :-)

love your cat on the desk! remind me of my kitty, Snicker before she passed away. She always love papers. lol

to your layout struggles--first things I thought of palm leaves, those drinks, beach theme on second page don't forget the journals too I'm sure there is a story somewhere. lol

Fantastic layouts. To give my layouts a little zing, I usually add ribbon or a metal embellishment. Also, anything that has a 3-D effect like a flower and journalling. Your layouts look great!

Have fun at the concert; my son will be there as well (I only know that because he posted it on his FB page).

As for your layout; I'm big on writing in the big open spaces. Usually about what I was thinking or where we were, what we did and even the weather and maybe a funny tale about something that happened.
My first thought when I looked at your pages was; Look at all the great space she has to write about her trip/day/event. 5, 10 or even 20 years from now when you look back, you will remember it differently. If you journal about it, you can refresh your memory. :)

Happy WOYWW!!

Enjoy the cocert.
Your desk looks very interesting.
I am not even going to try to give advice on LO's - I am a minimalistic kinda scrapper, so this 3D stuff has me stumped!
